EV1 Servers Review

On April 3rd, 2003, I purchased a leased a dedicated server from RachShack / EV1Servers.

While trying to set up the server with additional IP's issued to us from RackShack / EV1Servers, we encountered problems in the form of bind failure.

After three weeks, RackShack / EV1Servers notified us that they had inadvertently blocked the very IP's they had issued to us. They un-blocked the IP's and we were finally able to use the server. RackShack / EV1Servers stated that they would not issue a refund for the time we were not able to use the servers due to their incompetence.

While using RackShack / EV1Servers, we noted frequent latency issues and hardware failures, even though the server was used for less than 20 sites, none of which were high traffic sites.

Due to these issues, we decided to move to ServerBeach. On 6/24/03, we moved to ServerBeach and requested that RackShack / EV1Servers cancel our account. Jump to 9/5/03.

While viewing a credit card statement, I see that RackShack / EV1Servers has been billing us the entire time, notwithstanding a cancelled account.

I immediately sent an email to their billing dept, requesting a refund. RackShack replied, refusing to cancel the account, and refusing to issue a refund of the over-billed amount.

I then sent an email to Head Surfer Robert Marsh. He replied personally, stating that he would not issue a refund. He stated a refusal to cancel the account, siting an "established procedure" for cancelling accounts.

I replied that I had followed the established procedure, and the account was still being billed.

He did not reply.

In order to ensure the account was cancelled, I logged into the Member Services area, and repeated the cancellation procedure. Numerous profanities used at this time.

Since that time, RackShack / EV1Servers has billed my credit card twice, the most recent billing being the 3rd of this month.

RackShack / EV1Servers refuses to cancel the account, and continues to refuse to refund the stolen money.

Beware of EV1.
